Description
Lot #167 - The Harley-Davidson Panhead was succeeded by the Shovelhead in 1966, which produced 10 percent more horsepower and was nicknamed for the steam shovel resemblance. The earlier shovels (1966-69) kept the pan-styled lower end with generator bottoms known as the "Slabside Shovels." In 1970 they changed to an alternator bottom called a "Cone Shovel." This 1968 FLH Electra Glide is powered by a 74ci Shovelhead V-twin engine mated to a manual transmission. It's finished in metallic purple paint with white trim and rides on wire spoke wheels wearing whitewall tires. From the Larry Winkler Collection.
