Description
This 1969 K5 Blazer's corrosion-free body was completely sandblasted along with metalwork and bodywork during its concours nut-and-bolt restoration. After all of the hours of bodywork, it was refinished in PPG Toyota Quicksand and Mercedes-Benz Cirrus White two-tone paint. This Blazer retains its factory '69 front grille with truck-style chrome side trim. Hand-laid pinstriped molding accent the engine and interior. A set of 17-inch KMC beadlock wheels comes wrapped in 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 rubber. Protecting the interior is a fiberglass top that has been completely redone, gel-coated, retextured and refinished in factory satin. The top has been upgraded with rear gas shocks, all precision weatherstripping and given brand-new glass. The chassis has been completely reworked and all holes have been welded. It features TIG-welded custom-fabricated crossmembers, suspension hangers and shackles. The chassis is finished with a fully polished 3-inch TIG-welded stainless-steel exhaust complete with MagnaFlow mufflers. In addition, 8-lug Dana axles were installed along with FOX 2.0 shocks. Stopping power is provided by 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes that come backed by CPP Hydroboost. Powering this Blazer is a 6.0-liter V8 LS engine backed by a 4L80E automatic transmission and equipped with an advanced adapter to support the full billet ATLAS transfer case. Other mechanical highlights include a Holley EFI high-rise intake manifold, ceramic-coated Headman headers, ICT black pulley front drive, Dirty Dingo ECU mount, and a DeWitts aluminum radiator complete with all-stainless-steel lines and hoses. A custom air intake forces cool air into the engine and features vintage Chevrolet valve covers with hidden coil pack adapter plates. Keeping the K5 filled up is a 24-gallon aluminum-body fuel cell with a custom-fabricated cradle. The Carrara Tan interior is offset with Dixxon flannel inserts and light blue stitching featured on the front bucket seats and the bench seat spanning the rear using Snowden foam. It also features color-matching Classic Instruments gauges, half-wrapped billet steering wheels, an all-new steering column, a TIG-welded color-matched roll cage and a brand-new Vintage Air system. Chocolate suede lines the shift boot, glove box and interior of the center console. A RetroSound head unit is installed in the dash and plays through two Pioneer 5.5-inch and two 6x9 speakers and one 12-inch subwoofer inside custom-made speaker panels. Body, chassis and engine are all tied together with a professionally installed American Autowire harness. Dynamat sound-deadening was installed throughout. This is a true 1969 Blazer with a nut-and-bolt, body-off concours restoration using the best available parts and extreme attention to detail.
