Description
Lot #1299.1 - This GM of Canada-documented 1969 Ram Air IV GTO Judge is one of only 239 Judges ever produced with the performance Ram Air IV engine (L67) and M21 4-speed manual transmission options. This Judge has received over 2,000 hours in a full frame-off professional restoration. The Ram Air IV "2506" 4-bolt main block has been professionally machined and inspected prior to reassembly. It received new pistons, rings and bearings. The crank was resurfaced and fully balanced, along with its pistons and connecting rods. The extremely coveted original Ram Air IV “722” cylinder heads were disassembled and fully rebuilt with new components. After engine reassembly the correct shade of glossy Pontiac silver-blue paint was applied. The original "born with" VIN-matched transmission was completely rebuilt. The body was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal. The car retains all its original floors, doors and rocker sheet metal. The frame was removed, sand-blasted, primed and sanded prior to receiving its low-gloss black finish. All the chassis components were replaced or rebuilt prior to being refinished in the correct original factory finishes. The correct "nodular iron N case" 10-bolt posi-traction differential (G83) was rebuilt, including a set of factory-original 4:33 (XM-code) gears. The body of this vehicle was fully gapped out and panel-blocked to ensure perfect panel alignment. This Judge is also finished in its factory iconic color of Carousel Red (code-72), using only the top-of-the-line PPG enviro-base, clear coat paint materials. Over 60 hours was invested in wet-sanding and polishing of the clear coat finish alone. The Parchment Pearl white interior, an extremely rare option, was completely redone with nothing but the best materials. The car retains a factory-original dash pad, and all the original instruments and gauges were thoroughly gone through. All wiring harnesses were replaced with new correct units. The car is like new and show-ready, with no street use since restoration. This GTO was restored to a very high level of correct standard, including oversprayed floor pans and under the hood, restored bumper jack, date-code glass, T3 headlamps, dated rear bumper, all-original GM Ram Air IV tins, original GM stainless window and wheel well trims, original-style blackwall tires, spiral shocks, original exhaust manifolds, original distributor, four-core radiator, OEM-style hoses, clamps and plug wires, NOS oil filter.
