Description
Lot #774 - This gorgeous 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible is truly remarkable. As the VIN indicates, it was built in Tarrytown, NY. As the Cowl Tag indicates, it was built as a 1958 2-door Impala convertible that was Snowcrest White with a gray, black and red interior. It has been fully restored to show-quality standards throughout and is loaded with options. Great attention to detail was spent on the restoration and nothing was left untouched. The body is very straight with great gap lines, unlike many Impalas from this generation. This car is equipped with dual spotlights, fender skirts, exhaust ports and a Continental kit, which were all options. It was finished in the original color of Snowcrest White, which is a great color for this beautifully designed automobile. The paint job is high quality and ocean deep. It’s equipped with a white power convertible top that was replaced during the restoration. A red convertible top boot is included. All the glass was replaced new during the restoration. All the exterior brightwork was restored or replaced and looks amazing. There’s a ton of brightwork on this car, which required a lot of time sorting out. The car sits on Cooker Classics whitewall tires that are 215-75-14 all the way around. The exterior is complemented with a beautiful gray, black and red interior. This interior is very spacious and sporty. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced, such as the sun visors, rearview mirror, dash, gauges, knobs, steering wheel, door panels, door handles, window cranks, seats, seat belts and carpeting. A modern radio with cassette player and speakers were added for enjoyment. A set of rubber floor mats and carpeted floor mats are included. The trunk compartment is nicely detailed with a black trunk mat, matching spare tire and jack tools. The engine compartment is very detailed with many correct parts throughout. It’s equipped with power steering, which works very nicely. It is powered by a 348ci V8 engine that runs beautifully. The original 4-barrel carburetor was upgraded with a factory-style Tri-Power setup that includes a GM #18488672 intake, three 2-barrel Rochester carburetors and Tri-Power air cleaner. The engine breathes through factory-style manifolds and a dual exhaust system, and is coupled to an automatic transmission that shifts smoothly. The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout, including red oxide floors. Everything underneath was restored or replaced, such as the fuel tank, suspension system and braking system. The braking system was upgraded from manual to power with front discs for improved stopping. The 1958 Chevrolet Impala is a classic in its own right because it was a ritzy one-year-only body that founded a long and celebrated line. This wonderful car is a pleasure to cruise down the open road. This car was recently serviced and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that is included.
