Lot #427 - This fabulous 1947 Ford Super Deluxe convertible has been completely restored to concours-quality. It was designed to replicate the famous car from the movie “The Karate Kid.” In the 1984 film, Mr. Miyagi gives Daniel Larusso a 1947 Ford Super Deluxe convertible as a birthday gift, which Daniel used to drive his girlfriend, Ali Mills, to Golf N Stuff. Actor Ralph Macchio, who played Daniel, still has the original car today. This example was the product of a comprehensive restoration, which was completed in 2016. The body was taken off the frame, disassembled and put on a rotisserie to allow great attention to detail. The frame was stripped and refinished. Receipts and photos of the restoration before and after are included. Everything on this car was restored or replaced. The body is extremely straight with great gaps throughout. The car was painted Maize Yellow, which looks absolutely beautiful. The paint job is high-quality and shines like a star. The car sports a new tan cloth power convertible top that looks and operates wonderfully. The top is from Classic Tops and is also high quality. All of the glass was replaced new and fits very nicely. This car has a lot of brightwork, which was sent out to be restored and it looks brilliant. It’s equipped with a spotlight, which adds the extra touch. The car sits proudly on yellow wheels with chrome hubcaps. The wheels are wrapped with new Cooker Classic whitewall radial tires, which are 6.00R16. The exterior is complemented with a gorgeous tan leather and cloth interior. This interior is very spacious and luxurious. Nothing was left untouched in this interior, including all of the gauges. The quality of the upholstery on the door panels and seats is remarkable. It has a simulated wood-grain dash and a fresh air heating system. The wipers were converted to electric and the radio was converted to FM. The trunk compartment is highly detailed and home to the matching spare with tools. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The painted firewall looks great. The car is powered by a 239ci V8 engine that is factory rated at 100hp. The engine was professionally rebuilt and runs excellent. It has an electronic ignition system for easy starting. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and a new dual exhaust system with cherry bomb mufflers that sound awesome. The engine is coupled to the 3-speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly. The transmission was professionally rebuilt, and it has all-new clutch components. The rear end was also professionally rebuilt. The undercarriage is highly detailed throughout. The underbody was painted body color and looks super. The gas tank was replaced new. The steering system, suspension system and braking system was also replaced new. Unlike many Ford Super Deluxe convertibles, this car was restored to a high level. This car is one of the most beautiful examples ever assembled, and the fact it was designed to replicate the car from the movie “The Karate Kid” makes it special. This car has recently been serviced and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that is included.
