Description
Lot #392 - This 1962 Plymouth Sport Fury, known as “Pretty in Black,” is powered by a 426ci Max Wedge V8 engine built by Dick Landy, and has 32,873 original miles (mileage not indicated on registration). The engine is backed by a 727 heavy-duty 3-speed automatic transmission, which is push-button-controlled on the dashboard. Dick and his team built the engine and put many hours into balancing the engine and fine-tuning the dual cross-ram carburetors. The transmission is mated to a rear end with 3.91 gears. The exhaust has electronically controlled cutouts, and the front brakes have been upgraded from drum to Wilwood discs with a Wilwood master cylinder for added stopping power. This Fury is finished in a Racing Black and was named “Pretty in Black” by Dick. It features heater delete for weight savings, and the battery is trunk-mounted. The glovebox door is signed by Robert Landy, Dick’s son.
