Description
Lot #359 - This stunning 1959 Chevrolet 3200 Apache Fleetside pickup is total eye candy with its striking great looks. This truck has a ton of character and provides a lot of enjoyment. In 1955, Chevrolet’s Advanced Design Pickups were improved to create the Task Force series, a larger, more modernly styled truck line that spanned through 1959. As the VIN indicates, this truck is a 3200 that was built at the Atlanta, GA, assembly plant. It was treated to a nut-and-bolt, frame-off restoration to show-quality standards. Prior to the restoration it was believed to be a two-owner truck from Georgia with great history. The exterior body is straight with very nice panel fitment throughout. It was finished the correct color of Neptune Green with white accents. The color combination is something special. Some of the white accents include the roof, front grille, headlight buckets, bullets on the rear bed, letters on the tailgate, front bumper, rear bumper and hubcaps. It also has some black accents that include the letters in front grille, pinstripe around the bullets on the rear bed, mirror, emblems and wheels. The front windshield was replaced, and all the remaining glass is in beautiful original condition. Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced. Some of these items include the window trim, wipers, door handles, lights and emblems. The inside of the rear bed and floor rails were painted the body color. The floors were finished in black to match the black accents. The tailgate has new chains and brackets that are protected with black material. The truck sits proudly on American Classic 6.70 R15 tires. The exterior is complemented with a beautiful tan and black interior. The entire interior was completely restored to factory specifications. Some of these items include the headliner, sun visor, rearview mirror, gauges, steering wheel, knobs, bench seat, seatbelts and rubber flooring. Everything in the interior is in working order, including the gauges, horn, turn signals, lights and heating system. The engine compartment was completely restored and is highly detailed throughout. The firewall is painted the body color and, under the hood, inner fenders and radiator support are painted gloss black. The engine compartment has many correct features throughout. It’s powered by the 235ci I6 engine that runs excellent. The engine casting number is #3764476, which is correct for a 1958-62 Chevrolet 235ci inline-6 engine. The engine distributor deck stamping reads #F507J, which indicates it was built May 7 in Flint, MI, for a 3200 series. Most GM engines were built in Flint, MI. The engine breathes through a correct, original-style exhaust. The engine is coupled to a 3-speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly. The undercarriage was completely restored and is nicely detailed. The underside of this truck is definitely presentable enough for mirrors at a car show. Everything has been restored or replaced, including the suspension and braking system. An owner’s manual with folder is included. This is a wonderful example of a classic American pickup truck. This truck has been serviced and detailed.
