Description
Lot #672.1 - This awesome 1968 Chevrolet K10 4x4 Fleetside custom pickup is a great-looking truck that is one of only 1,449 K10s built in 1968 as a Fleetside with a 6-1/2’ bed. As the VIN indicates, this truck was born a 1968 Chevrolet K10 4x4 half-ton pickup cab and bed with a 6-cylinder engine that was built in Fremont, CA. As the original SPID (Service Parts Identification) label indicates, it was born with the following options in order: front-wheel lock hubs, 4-speed transmission, red, hi-note horn, non-glare mirror, Delco 42-amp generator, SM wheel carrier and red vinyl trim. Prior to the 5-year nut-and-bolt restoration it was a very original truck. It retains all the original sheet metal, and during the restoration only minor patchwork was required. The body is straight and it has nice gaps throughout. It is finished in Dupont Chromabase Victory Red, which looks beautiful. The paintwork on this truck is show-quality. The front grille is painted white. The front windshield, door glass and sliding rear window was replaced with new. All of the brightwork was restored or replaced, including such items as the window trim, dual mirrors, door handles and bumpers. The truck has a great stance on new Weld Racing aluminum wheels with BFGoodrich Radial Mud Terrain T/A 35x12” tires. The rear inside bed is sprayed-on polyurethane by Rhino Linings. It’s equipped with a tow hitch. The interior was completely restored and painted red. To add contrast, the sun visors, dash pad, door panels, bench seat and carpet are black. Sound-deadener was added to help with road noise and heat. The gauges and steering wheel were left like they came from the factory. The heater core was rebuilt for a working heating system. It has a custom sound system consisting of a Sony head unit with CD player, Sony amplifier, under-dash speaker and under-seat speaker box. The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout. It has a red firewall with satin black inner fenders and radiator support. It’s powered by a 350ci V8 engine that was rebuilt and runs great. The engine block was painted red to match the truck and is equipped with an Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock chrome air cleaner and Chevrolet chrome valve covers. It’s equipped with a new Optima Red Top battery. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and a MagnaFlow exhaust system with chrome tips that exit straight out the rear. The engine is coupled to a rebuilt Turbo 350 automatic transmission. The power is transferred through the GM 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 gears. It has a Dana 44 front axle and an NP205 transfer case, which was also rebuilt. It’s equipped with power steering that works nicely with the large tires. The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout. The truck has been lifted 6”, which gives it a great look. It has chrome shocks and a chrome rear end cover. It’s equipped with power brakes with front disc and rear drum. This classic truck is a blast and the center of attention wherever it goes. This truck has been serviced and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that is included.
