Lot #81 - This project started with a highly optioned, 14,000-original-mile 1981 Corvette with glass roof panels, rear defroster, two-tone paint, Gymkhana suspension, 4-speed manual transmission, aluminum wheels, radio, cassette player, power antenna, air conditioning and Camel leather bucket seats. The idea was to create a superior driving and handling C3 Corvette, with the best available engine, the all-aluminum ZL1 427. The car remains in original configuration except for the L88 hood, which kept the stock ’81 hood stripes. The engine is #156 of 427 special recasting of the 1969 ZL1. A polished March Performance specially designed pulley system was added for low clearance and to provide for the air conditioning pump. 2.5” and 3” custom exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers were added to allow the high-compression engine to breathe. This Corvette has been kept in a climate-controlled collection and comes with all GM ZL1 Special Project engine documents, Window Sticker copy, receipts of the build, service paperwork and other information.
