Lot #217 - This Super Beetle convertible was discovered in a New York City Volkswagen collection in May 2016. The owner of the collection acquired the Super Beetle from the original owner in the early '80s. The original owner intended to purchase one, but was torn between River Blue and Lemon Yellow. So he bought them both - with the intention of using them sparingly and owning them for many years. However, he became ill in the early '80s and could not see well enough to drive. It was then that he decided to sell both VWs, hoping to keep them together. The New York City collector then purchased both cars. This River Blue Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible has 459 original miles. It is powered by a 1600cc 4-cylinder engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission.
