Description
Lot #1002.1 - This 1961 Chrysler 300G is powered by the new-for-1961 and correct 413/375hp Wedge V8 engine with a dual-quad carburetor Cross-Ram induction system that added 45 ft/lbs to the engine's torque output, mated to a TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The drivetrains from Chrysler were not stamped with VINs at this point in time. Named for the 300hp HEMI that powered the 1955 original, the Chrysler 300 "letter cars" continued the tradition of the Duesenberg and Packard's powerful luxury machines. The 300G's interior front bucket seats swivel outward, and the high console is fitted with front and rear armrest/storage compartments that extend the full length of the interior. The interior is finished in red leather with black dash and carpets, with push-button controls for the automatic transmission and the heating and cooling ventilation system. Features include a unique Astra-Dome instrument cluster, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, power windows and locks, push-button radio, tinted glass and chromed wires with wide whitewall tires. This 1961 Chrysler 300G was the subject of a complete restoration and maintains its original sheet metal, bumpers, grille and trim. It has been maintained in a museum-like setting by the current owner and is roadworthy. It was formerly part of the Reggie Jackson Collection.
