Description
Lot #1135 - This 1962 Volkswagen Bus was the recipient of a five-year nut-and-bolt restoration. It has the authenticity of the original 23-window bus combined with some power, handling and braking enhancements. A new front end was installed utilizing Porsche 944 Turbo 4-piston brakes and polished wheels. The bus is powered by a 2275cc engine mated to a custom-built Rancho 4-speed manual transmission. Additional updates include an MSD ignition, 12-volt electrical system, external oil filter, new wiring harness, Optima battery and an A1 header with custom stainless exhaust. The restoration included painting the bus to its original color combination of turquoise exterior with a Blue White roof and Como Green interior. The bus's Birth Certificate from the Stiftung Auto Museum Volkswagen in Germany is included and confirms its originality. All interior panels were coated in Dynamat, all seat frames were restored, new headliner, seat covers, door panels and side panels were installed along with a new Stayfast folding sunroof. All window and door seals were replaced, and all interior and exterior trim pieces were replaced or repolished. A period-style cargo rack tops the bus for an authentic look, and a custom car cover is included.
