Description
Lot #780 - The Packard Caribbean was the most expensive American car in 1955; it was the top of the class, more expensive than the Cadillac Eldorado. This particular example is #401 of 500 produced in 1955 and has long-term documented ownership history. It is equipped with its original matching-numbers 352ci engine with factory dual Rochester carburetors and factory batwing air cleaner, mated to an Ultramatic automatic transmission. Equipped with self-leveling suspension, dual mounted antennas, Wonder Bar radio, tri-tone leather interior, power windows and seats, it was one of the most advanced vehicles of its day. It has brand-new Kelsey Hayes chrome wire wheels riding on wide whitewall tires. Its original factory steel wheels and hubcaps are in the trunk, sitting with its original spare tire. The factory exterior color “MAC” combination is an exquisite tri-color example of Emerald Metallic, Jade Green and Jade White. It has a highly detailed engine bay and is an extraordinary piece of automotive history.
