Description
Lot #1245 - This car is 1 of only 32 ever produced. The history of the California 500 special AMX (American Motors Experimental), each dealer in the California zone received 1 of these cars. The car was used to announce the opening of the Ontario 500 speedway. This is without a doubt the best restored California 500 AMX in existance, some say it may be the best restored AMX period! It is a CACI/AMCWC undefeated National Best of Show winner! This car scored 99.25 points out of 100. It has been featured in several magazines and it is recognized in the hobby as one of the premier cars. Why is it so good? We spent several years collecting and researching to make sure we had all of the correct NOS parts. We started with a rare AMX BBG California 500 is about as rare a production AMC as they get (other than an SS/ AMX). We spent a number of years collecting parts and information before we disassembled the car. The restoration went back tot he way that it left the Kenosha AMC factory in 1969. Great attention was spent on each detail to make this car a true show car. This is not an under or over restored car, it is as close to factory original as any restoration can be. This car was restored almost 8 years ago but has been carefully maintained and stored in a climate controlled atmosphere. Since the restoration we have put about 150 miles on the car, most of them on and off our specially built enclosed car hauler.
