Description
Lot #620 - This 1960 Autobianchi Bianchina Transformable is a beautiful example of an Italian microcar. The period-correct air-cooled engine displaces 479cc, putting out approximately 16.5hp through its 4-speed manual gearbox. It was imported into the United States from Italy about two years ago and is a clean, mostly original survivor car. Being a Transformable, this microcar transforms into an open air Targa-Top via its manually retractable canvas top. It has 11,162 original kilometers (title reads mileage exempt) and is in good overall condition. The car has spent the majority of its life in Italy, and comes with some documentation to show this. The Bianchina was the result of a postwar allegiance that merged Italian cycle maker Bianchi with partners Fiat and Pirelli. It started from the iconic Fiat 500 platform and utilized Pirelli tires. It was designed by Luigi Rapi and was introduced at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, Italy, in September 1957. At the time it was smart and fashionable, primarily aimed at affluent European customers.
