Lot #529 - A two-year complete, nut-and-bolt, frame-off restoration was just completed on this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 re-creation convertible. This car has spent its entire life in the salt-free, dry climate of Colorado and it retains nearly all of its original sheet metal down to the floors and trunk. Even the hood is original. The body was blocked and primed three times, with GM gaps on the body panels. The LeMans Blue finish was done in Sikkens base coat/clear coat paint, then blocked to a laser-straight finish and polished to a mirror-like shine. The frame was completely taken down to bare steel and everything was powder-coated or painted in correct Concours finish. It is powered by a 396ci 8-cylinder engine backed by its factory 400 Turbo automatic transmission all attached to the factory 12-bolt rear end with 355 gears. This Chevelle has been upgraded with a larger crank and cam/roller rockers and a 375hp aluminum intake was added to replicate the 375hp look. Its 2¼” exhaust with period-correct mufflers is finished off with factory chrome tips. A brand-new, black convertible top protects the completely restored optional bucket seats, factory gauges, power steering, power disc brakes, power top and factory console. This Chevelle rides on the factory-style SS wheels upgraded to 15” with BF Goodrich tires. Entirely new brake lines, fuel lines, and emergency brake components were replaced and assembled to factory specs.
