Description
Lot #1351 - This 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe convertible is the automobile Hollywood legend Steve McQueen drove frequently in the final movie of his illustrious career, "The Hunter." After the movie was shot, McQueen purchased the car for his personal collection of vehicles. This Styleline is documented by the original McQueen Certificate of Authenticity declaring it was owned by motion picture star Steve McQueen and purchased at the actor's estate auction held at Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino in November 1984 in Las Vegas. This document is signed by the actor's daughter, Terry, and his son, Chad. It is also featured in the 2007 book "McQueen's Machines: The Cars and Bikes of a Hollywood Icon" by Matt Stone. The pale yellow Chevrolet it is today is an older restoration with primarily original factory specifications. The 92hp 6-cylinder engine is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission with a column-mounted shift. The paint exhibits some flaws, as would be anticipated with a restoration of this age. In addition to its history as an important McQueen car, it was purchased and sold in two episodes of the TV series "Pawn Stars."
