Description
Lot #1154 - This 1946 Dodge Power Wagon WDX is a utilitarian vehicle and heavy-duty in every way. With a 4-speed new-process manual transmission, NP 2-speed transfer case, heavy-duty front and rear axles with 5.83 ratio and a Barden PTO winch, this is a go-anywhere, do-anything truck. This was a two-year, frame-off restoration. The frame and body were media-blasted down to bare metal, painted and reassembled. The floor pans, fenders, cab and body panels had no rust. The rebuilt engine is a period-correct 230ci Flathead. The clutch disc, pressure plate and throw-out bearing have been replaced, and the gearboxes and differentials received new seals, bearings and necessary gears. The electrical system was upgraded to 12-volt, and the original 6-volt generator was converted to 12-volt to maintain the original under-hood appearance. Electric wipers were installed, along with a 12-volt heater motor. Original correct color-coded cloth wire was used throughout. The truck is equipped with Barden winch with 150 feet of 7/16 cable, and factory-correct clevis and chain. The winch gearbox has new seals, new driveshaft and U-joints. A new exhaust pipe, correct muffler and tailpipe were installed in their original location. The bed was fitted with new box angles and skid strips, which were painted the same color as the body. A new ash wood floor has been installed, and the wood has been stained and had five coats of Marine Spar varnish used for a beautiful finish.
