Description
Lot #616.1 - This great original example has 38,745 original kilometers (mileage not indicated on title). As one of the two oldest manufacturers of automobiles in the world, Panhard and Levassor of Paris presented in early 1954 a new Dyna model. Constructed of aluminum and having a total weight of 1,630 pounds, it was even lighter than the Volkswagen of the time. There were very few cars that had the combination of interior room, trunk space, styling and, most importantly, the performance-based power plant. With four doors and two large bench seats, it was well-suited as a family car. Being a light car and having a 50bhp 2-cylinder engine with 4-speed manual transmission, it had enough power, along with plenty of fuel economy, to make this unique front-wheel-drive car desirable to the American market.
