Lot #413.1 - The Harley-Davidson SS 350 Sprint was produced from 1969-74. In 1969, a 350 Sprint was offered in two versions, which included the SS with a one-into-two exhaust and low pipes, and the SX, which was off-road-oriented with a high pipe, high fenders and knobby tires. The engine got a cosmetic makeover with the cylinder, head and rocker box blended together. The 350cc version proved potent in GP racing over three years, when the Sprint made up four of the top-10 places in the Isle of Man Junior TT each year and grabbed a pair of second-place finishes in 1969 and 1970. This 1970 Harley Davidson SS 350 Sprint was purchased brand-new by Walter Gilbert from Saratoga Springs, NY. He kept this bike until 2016, when he decided to sell it with 15,353 original miles to a gentleman from South Glens Falls, NY. An avid motorcycle collector, the new owner wanted to have the bike completely restored with an open checkbook. He sent the bike to well-known Knight Time Autoworks, also in South Glens Falls, NY, for a complete restoration. He invested over $12,000, which is fully documented with receipts. The entire bike is show-quality throughout. The beautiful black paint is complemented with a white racing stripe. Completely rebuilt by well-known John Cutter of Adirondack Recreational Parts in Hudson Falls, NY, the engine was totally disassembled and redone, including a new bored cylinder, piston and valve guides.
