Description
Lot #754 - This Camaro SS 396 L35 is the real deal. This car was special ordered on April 22, 1967 by Robert Delano at Prentice Brown Chevrolet located in Cohasset, MA. Robert took physical delivery of the car on June 6, 1967. It was ordered Tahoe Turquoise with a white stripe and a deluxe white vinyl with black piping interior. Loaded with options, it features a 396/325hp Turbojet V8 engine, 4-speed manual transmission, disc brakes, special steering, special instruments, console, AM/FM radio with rear speaker, comfort tilt wheel, aux lighting group and style trim group. It has tons of original documentation such as the factory tags and stickers, Window Sticker, Protect-O-Plate, dealer special order Bill of Sale, dealer stock tag and key tag, taxpayer certificate, registration and keys. The original owner also kept tons of documentation, including letters from GM, service records, personal letters, personal notes and photos throughout the car's history. All of the documentation is included. The car was driven regularly until 1974 and then garaged for the next 18 years, only being driven occasionally. The original owner transferred the car to its second owner in 1992, who subsequently had it restored. During the light restoration many of the original parts were restored, or NOS and OEM parts were used. All of the original sheet metal was taken to bare metal before the base primer and lacquer GM Tahoe Turquoise paint was applied. The body panels still retain the original factory stamps. The body is very nice and the gaps are great. The hood, doors and trunk lid open and close like an original car should. The paint is 25 years old and does have some minor imperfections, but still shows beautifully. The original dealer emblem is on the rear trunk lid. All of the glass is believed to be original. It rides on factory steel Rally wheels wrapped in period-correct Coker red line tires. The interior complements the exterior perfectly, and everything in the interior is in working order with the exception of the clock. The engine compartment is nicely detailed and home to the original matching-numbers 396ci V8 engine that was refreshed but not rebuilt; it runs and sounds excellent. The engine is coupled to the original matching-numbers Muncie M20 close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission, and power is transferred to the pavement through the original 12-bolt rear end with 3.07:1 gears. The undercarriage is also nicely detailed throughout. The car has 27,802 original miles (mileage not indicated on ownership document), of which 2,800 miles were put on in the last 24 years by four owners. Finding first-generation Camaro with these accolades isn't common. This car has recently been completely serviced and detailed, which is fully documented with an invoice.
