Description
Lot #66 - While Massey-Harris had success with larger tractors, they wanted to try to help out the small famers, too. With this new endeavor in mind, they released the Massey-Harris Pony. Produced from 1947-57, the Pony was a 4x2 two-wheel-drive tractor with a single plough. It had the same general styling as other Massey-Harris tractors, but the width between the front two wheels could be adjusted. At 5' tall with a 66" wheelbase, it featured a gasoline-powered, liquid-cooled 4-cylinder Continental N62 engine with natural aspiration. The 3-speed transmission was unsynchronized and had one reverse speed. When tested, there were 10.43hp at the drawbar and 11.62hp at the belt. Manual steering was the only steering option on the Pony. The brakes were differential mechanical contracting bands. This is one of 4,402 built in 1951. Based on the serial number, it was built towards the end of the middle of production in 1951. This tractor has been nicely restored with many new parts throughout. Some of these parts include the wiring harness, rebuilt starter, rebuilt generator and new battery. It has excellent tires with chains for the rears. Hydraulics operate the blade and dump box on rear. It's been finished in the correct colors and looks great. The Continental 1.0-liter engine runs very well. From the MS Classic Cars Collection.
