Description
Lot #746 - One of 17,762 Corvette Stingray convertibles built in 1966. As the Trim Tag indicates, this car was built in St. Louis in March 1966 and was Nassau Blue with black vinyl interior. During the restoration, this car was designed to look somewhat original, but has the custom features to compete with the higher-horsepower Corvettes of the day. With show-quality paint on a nice body, this shade of blue is truly spectacular in person, and a new tan convertible soft-top complements the color perfectly. The original black hardtop is also included. The exterior glass, stainless trim and chrome are in great condition. It rides on 15" factory alloy wheels with spinners and whitewall tires. The black interior is in beautiful condition. All the gauges, including the clock and radio, are in working order. Some interior custom features include a polished Ididit tilt steering column with Budnik 15.5" steering wheel, kick-panel speakers and carpeted floor mats. The engine compartment is nicely detailed with many upgrades. At the heart of this car is a new BluePrint GM 383ci V8 engine. This engine has a whopping 420hp with 450 ft/lbs of torque. This small block produces the power of a big block with less weight. Some of the engine features include a cast-steel crank, hypereutectic pistons, roller cam and aluminum heads. It's dressed with a chrome air cleaner and Chevrolet Orange valve covers. The engine breathes through Hedman headers and a custom Flowmaster exhaust system with X-pipe, and is coupled to a smooth-shifting Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The undercarriage is also nicely detailed with many upgrades. The front suspension has Corvette Grand Touring 1" lowering springs, Edelbrock shocks and a heavy-duty sway bar. The rear suspension has a one-piece composite rear spring with Edelbrock shocks. Stopping is provided by a Wilwood master cylinder and 4-wheel disc brakes. This Corvette runs and drives as good as it looks. This car has recently been completely serviced and detailed, which is fully documented with an invoice. From the MS Classic Cars Collection.
