Description
Lot #348.1 - This 1926 Dodge Brothers Roadster was purchased by Mr. Ernest Mueller in February 1926 at the Oakland, CA, Dodge Brothers dealership. With a sales price of $962, Mr. Mueller paid $118 to upgrade to 24" wheels from the standard 20" wheels. An Englishman residing in the U.S., Mr. Mueller didn't like driving on the left side, so he special-ordered this car with right-hand drive, and Dodge Brothers complied. This is a very rare car, but the fact that its right-hand drive makes it even rarer. This information is documented on the original Bill of Sale, which is included. This three-owner car was purchased by the third owner, who lived in California in 2007. He purchased the car because it was exceptionally straight and rust-free, which made it the perfect candidate for a complete restoration. The car went through an extensive body-off restoration, in which everything was restored or replaced. The quality of the work can be measured by the car's AACA Grand National First Place Award for authenticity and quality. The exterior was finished in Dodge Brothers Pheasant Green, which wasn't the original color but an authentic color. This color is very attractive and is show-quality. The black convertible top has never been down since competition. It sits on the correct wheels with 5.25x24 tires with whitewalls. The black interior is very simple and comfortable. The trunk compartment is very spacious. The engine compartment is nicely detailed and home to the correct 212.3ci 4-cylinder L-head engine coupled to a 3-speed manual transmission. Many items in the engine compartment are correct, such as the DB-stamped bolt heads and the red hoses. It was converted to a 12-volt system by Northeast Electric. The undercarriage is also nicely detailed. This car is a great-looking, running and driving car. The top side curtains, original crank and book of instructions are included. This car has recently been completely serviced and detailed, which is fully documented with invoice. From the MS Classic Cars Collection.
