Description
Lot #1320 - One of the rarest, most original and well-documented Plymouth Superbird survivors. This American-made vehicle also has a Wise Vehicle Inspection Report by David Wise. The Plymouth Superbird was built for just one model year. The Superbird presented here has accumulated 14,800 original miles since new, having had just three owners in that time period. Complete owner history, featured on multiple TV car shows and in multiple automobile magazines. Multiple show award-winner, including the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance class winner. Original artifacts include owner history from day one, an IBM sales record punch card, the original key tag, owner's manual, plus beautifully preserved Broadcast Sheets and many other documents. As built, the car features the rare factory Y39 Special Order code designation. The Superbird initially came off the Lynch Road assembly line with a 440 Super Commando V8 backed by the 727 TorqueFlite. The final assembly of this vehicle was completed by Chrysler at their special vehicle operations at their Clairpoint Facility in Detroit, MI. The interior features white vinyl bench seating with headrests, which contrasts nicely with the B5 Blue exterior and black top. The car has a column shifter and the pod-type dash layout with 150 mph speedometer. In summary, this is perhaps one of the best example of one of Plymouth's most remarkable street packages in existence. This vehicle is recorded in the MMC Detroit Vehicle Registry.
