Description
Lot #1341 - This is one of only 630 fuel-injected convertibles offered by Pontiac to the 630 U.S. dealers in 1957, the year "Bunkie" Knudsen became president of the new GM at Pontiac. He hired John DeLorean and Pete Estes in a move that would mean great things for the Pontiac Division in years to come. The new Strato-Streak V8 engine was introduced and enlarged for the Bonneville to 347ci. Then, for extra horsepower, a Rochester fuel-injection system was added to the package. Pontiac never published the horsepower rating, but it was said to develop 315hp. The huge convertible did 0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds. Unfortunately, only 630 were built, so few drivers experienced this top-of-the-line Bonneville. The cars were only available in white with blue or red inserts matching the interiors and the convertible tops. This beauty is Kenya White with Fontaine Blue inserts and a Sky Blue convertible top. To complete the package, all of the convertibles were fully equipped with power steering and brakes, power windows, power top and signal-seeking radio. GM optional skirts were added to this beauty. This car has benefited from a body-off restoration over 10 years ago, and still shows extremely well, testifying to the quality of the work done. The mechanical systems perform as would be expected in a complete restoration. Automatic transmission.
