Lot #773 - This documented factory-produced Super Sport SS396 Convertible was built at the Oshawa, Ontario plant. It is documented through GM of Canada showing it was born as a true big-block 396 Super Sport Convertible. Very clean and nicely restored, this is powered by a '68 date-coded EG-stamped 396/375hp L78 engine backed to a 4-speed manual transmission. It's finished in a gorgeous red that just glows against its bright-white top and Super Sport side stripe. The excellent Pearl White interior features factory air conditioning, tilt steering with sport wheel, bucket seats and console, factory gauge package with tachometer and AM/FM stereo. It's equipped with power steering, power front disc brakes, power top, heavy-duty F41 suspension and 12-bolt rear. It rides on correct SS wheels with Polyglas tires. A very original-appearing restoration, it used correct-style hoses and clamps as well as correct-style tires and battery topper. Excellent and well-sorted-out, this is a great-driving Chevelle. It was originally a silver/black/black car. One of 521 built at the Oshawa Plant and sold new in the USA. Sold new at Sir Walter Chevrolet in Raleigh, NC.
