Description
Lot #1281 - This has undergone a frame-off restoration. The underbody and structural work was completed in the late 1990s. The paint, top, interior and final assembly was completed in 2009-10, bringing the car to its current state. It is finished in black with red leather interior and charcoal German square-weave carpet. The convertible top is black German canvas, and a hardtop is included with the sale. It is the early, small-window-type hardtop, correct for this car. Items replaced during restoration include new wiring throughout the car, rubber trunk mat set, rubber seals throughout the car, fuel tank, brakes front and rear, rebuilt power brake booster, reconditioned radiator, new exhaust system, most chrome was replaced or refinished, shocks, tie rods, dampers, sealed beam headlights, turn-signal lenses, and new Mikuni carburetors replaced the original Solex units. Original optional equipment on the car includes a rear transverse seat, VDO manual clock on glove box face, fog lights and Becker Europa radio. The radio was serviced during the restoration and works. It also has a black steering wheel in the same style as the original wheel, which was ivory-colored. Similarly, a round, black shift knob replaces the original oblong ivory-colored one. It has chrome/Lucite sun visors. It's powered by a 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission.
