Lot #768 - This is an excellent example of one of only 2,898 Corvette L71 models produced in 1968. The L71 model was equipped with the 427ci motor with 435hp. This was the highest horsepower rating available. The build date on this car is D15, which is November 15th. The original exterior paint code of this car is 978, which is International Blue. Only 2,473 total Corvettes were painted this color in 1968. The original interior trim code of this car is 411 which is Dark Blue. This car was equipped from the factory with the following options: 4-speed close-ratio transmission, power brakes, AM/FM stereo, Soft Ray tinted glass, transistor ignition system, red stripe F70x15 nylon tires, posi-traction rear axle and 427/435hp engine. This car underwent an extensive body-off restoration by well-known Corvette specialist Marvin Shreve. During the restoration, great attention to detail was given throughout. The car retains its original color combination of International Blue with Dark Blue. The car also retains its original matching-numbers engine, transmission and rear end. Marvin Shreve personally showed the car and achieved numerous prestigious awards from multiple Corvette organizations. The awards include National Corvette Restorers Society Top Flight, National Corvette Certification Board Bloomington Gold, Chevy/Vettefest Nationals Gold Spinner and Triple Crown. These awards are included with the car.
