Description
Lot #636 - This unrestored California survivor has only 33,940 original miles. It is finished in the original Lucerne Mist Metallic paint with the only upgrade being freshly chromed front and rear bumpers. Under the hood is the original matching-numbers 425ci V8. The Super Rocket big block makes some of the best power of the era thanks to the factory Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor that's still on this coupe today. These cars were considered revolutionary with the TH400 3-speed automatic powering the front wheels. With its super long hood, hidden head lamps and fabulous styling, the Toronado represented sporty elegance, and it was something truly unique that we now know represented the perfect crossroads of '60s style and technology. That's why these first-year marvels won the 1966 Motor Trend Car of the Year award. The car comes with the original Window Sticker, original registration and black California license plates, original order protection plan manual with Oldsmobile Protect-O-Plate, original owner's manual, a 1966 Oldsmobile chassis service manual, 1966 Oldsmobile dealer lineup brochure and 1966 Oldsmobile model specifications catalog. Magazines included in the sale are the December 1965 Motor Trend Magazine with the 1966 Toronado as car of the year, November 1965 Car and Driver with the 1966 Toronado on the cover, November 1965 Road & Track with the 1966 Toronado on cove and November 1965 Car Life with technical analysis of the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado.
