Description
Lot #74 - Nashes were advertised as "The World's Most Luxurious Compact Cars." The paint on this Rambler Airflyte was changed to a custom blue urethane base coat/clear coat. The interior is painted a striking ivory with factory seats front and rear. It also features a Hurst 4-speed shifter and new gauges. This Nash was rotisserie restored, all the sheet metal was straightened and any rust was removed. The frame was strengthened, and accommodations were made for the new engine and the new front and rear suspensions. Urethane base coat was applied, then clear coat. After curing, the color sanding and buffing of the paint began. The engine is a 408 small-block Chevy with aluminum heads and Edelbrock air-gap intake. On top of the intake is a Quick Fuel 750cfm double-pumper carburetor. The ignition system is an MSD 6AL unit and the distributor is a billet MSD unit. This engine is connected to a Muncie 4-speed transmission. The custom-built driveshaft connects the power to a 9" Ford rear end. The nodular center section has 3.73 posi-gears. Four-link suspension plants the rear Mickey Thompson radials to the pavement and QA1 double-adjustable shocks help with the ride. The front suspension utilizes a Fat Man Fabrication front end unit, while 4-wheel disc brakes handle the stopping. Aluminum fuel cell, custom upholstery, all chrome has been re-chromed, dyno sheets show over 500HP and dyno video available. This is a very hard to find Rambler Airflyte 2 Door Station Wagon.
