Description
Lot #641 - This is a factory code-281 high-performance manual transmission version. There were an estimated seven built for use at the famed Flying Mile in Daytona Beach. In addition to those, two were built for press purposes. Only the press cars were documented and both press cars survive today. This one is the East Coast press car and was delivered new to Chrysler Proving Grounds. This exact car was featured in many news stories and magazines in the period. The car ended up on the West Coast as part of a collection of letter cars, was purchased by a respected East Coast collector in early 2005 and was subjected to a no-expense-spared, nut-and-bolt frame-off $500,000 restoration. All of the best parts were used, including a Gary Goers interior and a full Jeff Carter instrumentation set. The car has just over 63,000 actual miles from new, indicating a very well-kept and pampered life by owners who understood the importance of this car. The car has traveled less than 10 miles since the completion of the restoration and remains in concours-ready condition. It has its original 413ci V8 engine and original race-ready manual transmission. One of only two that is matching numbers from new. Certified by Chrysler 300 Club International. Capable of a top speed of over 150 miles per hour.
