Description
Lot #452 - The 993 Turbo Coupe was released in 1995. It featured a new turbocharged 3.6-liter engine mated to 6-speed manual transmission producing 402hp. Twin turbochargers and air-to-air intercoolers, electronic engine management, redesigned cylinder heads and other modified engine internals were used. The Turbo's bodywork differs from the Carrera body by widened rear wheel arches (approximately 6 cm), redesigned front and rear bumper moldings, and a fixed rear wing housing the intercoolers. New 18" alloy wheels with weight-reducing hollow spokes were standard. Considered by many to be the pinnacle of Porsche turbos, the 993 Twin Turbo is both drivable and breathtaking. The twin-turbo design tames the harsh mistress of early 911 Turbo full throttle oversteer, and the all-wheel drive system was both revolutionary and (in retrospect) an almost indispensable safety feature. The early demise of many early Porsche 930 turbos may have been mitigated by the addition of an extra set of drive wheels to compensate for the mid-corner tailspins that plagued the early turbos and led to the nickname "Widow-maker." This particular example is finished in Jet Black with black interior, complemented by Porsche crests in the headrests, supple leather front and rear, metal door sill model insignias, aluminum instrument dials, carbon/aluminum shifter and brake handle, oval chrome exhaust pipes, self-dimming mirrors and rain sensor, and a 6-CD remote changer, as documented on the included Certificate of Authenticity. The car was sold new by the Collection in Miami, and is presented with a clean, accident-free CARFAX and AutoCheck, original manuals (including the stamped service manual), pouch, tool kit and complete inflation kit. Only 28,000 actual miles. Title miles read exempt.
