Description
Lot #365 - This is a re-creation of an altered-wheelbase car built for the Chrysler Corporation to compete in the 1965 NHRA & AHRA Drag Racing Series. Using a California-built Dodge Coronet, Facsimile Car Productions of Riverside, CA meticulously constructed this icon. Altering the wheelbase, by moving the rear wheels 15" forward and the front wheels 10" to the front, they achieved optimal weight transfer. The balanced and blue printed 472 HEMI power plant started with a new HEMI Performance block and was modified with Stage Five aluminum cylinder heads with Indy roller rocker assemblies, Isky roller cam and JE Pistons with Manley H-beam rods. All engine components were supplied by Bob Mazzolini Racing. This monster runs a staggering 10:25 compression ratio using Hilborn fuel injection and runs nicely on 91 octane pump gas. The 727 TorqueFlite tranny, with full manual reverse shift pattern, hooks to a Dana 60, 3:54 ratio, limited-slip differential by Strange Engineering. Safety features include a full 10-point roll cage with 5-point safety harness by Crow Enterprizes and A-100 bucket seats with the correct super-stock interior provided by Gary Ball. No expense was spared in the construction of this tribute to the legendary racing history of Dodge and Mopar, right down to the Burnt Orange HEMI paint and body work that were done by Rob "Magic" Knaskov. The fenders, hood, bumpers and trunk lid are fiberglass. The engine was built by Allan Lee, legend and World Super Stock Champion.
