Description
Lot #1033 - No expenses were spared on this recent restoration of a 1969 Mach 1 Super Cobra Jet, with the rare W code 4:30 gear Drag Pack option group. Meticulously restored in 2015 to concours specifications by Randy Roberts of Muscle Car Restorations in Claremore, OK, this piece of American muscle car history car features a combination of rare features and a beautiful color combination. To bring this car back to its original factory beauty, the restoration began by carefully stripping it to bare metal before priming and refinished it in its original Royal Maroon paint. The car's date-code correct, R code, Super Cobra Jet engine, which included the Shaker Hood scoop and dual exhaust, is accompanied by a 4-speed manual transmission, and is joined on the equipment list with power steering and brakes, White Clarion high-back bucket seats, a standard rear seat, AM radio and beautiful styled steel wheels. The interior is fully restored including the wood grained dash, working in-dash clock, and tachometer. This car has undergone a thorough restoration encompassing the smallest details, including the correct smog system, spare tire and jack, trunk detailing, and a very nicely detailed undercarriage and engine compartment with recreated factory assembly line markings. The engine, transmission, rear-end, suspension, brakes, exhaust, wiring, fuel system and interior have all been rebuilt or replaced with correct parts. One of fifteen (15) Super Cobra Jets with this color combination and a close-ratio manual transmission. Furthermore, with the W code, 4.30:1 Traction-Lok axle ratio makes this car one of only six like it ever produced from the factory. In fact, because this car also came with power steering and a standard rear set, it is actually documented as the only one like it ever produced with these exact options. A one-of-one car, all of this is documented with an Elite Marti Report in addition to the restoration photos. A magnificent restoration done with drivability in mind. It was recently inspected by National SAAC judge Ed Meyer.
