Description
Lot #1390 - This was purchased in 2012 as a complete running and driving car wearing an older cosmetic restoration. It underwent a complete restoration to exacting original condition, highly detailed and finished to a concours-quality level of exterior appearance. A total mechanical rebuild to stock specifications resulted in a car that performs as good as it looks. This was built as one of the rarest of Yenko Camaros, an authentic X66 Double COPO car featuring both the COPO 9561 package: the L72 427/425hp engine, Muncie 4-speed and heavy-duty 4:10 posi-traction rear end. The car also features the very rare COPO 9737 sports car conversion package, adding the 140 mph speedometer, larger front sway bar and 15x7" Rally wheels. Factor in the X66 Super-Sport exterior trim package and the result is one very rare Yenko Camaro. Delivered new by the Madison, WI, Yenko dealer, Hult Chevrolet, this particular sYc Camaro stayed in that locale for much of its life and saw a little drag strip action early on. In the mid-1980s, the car was discovered and purchased by the well-respected authority on these cars, Ed Cunneen of the COPO Connection, who retained the car personally for over 10 years. This Double COPO X66 Yenko Camaro can surely be the centerpiece of any fine collection. The combination of the rare build configuration, great colors, clear owner history and top-level restoration make for a seldom-seen opportunity to own one of the best.
