Lot #1384 - Isotta was known for production of cars that were among the most luxurious and prestigious ever built. The Tipo 8 was the first production car with a Straight-8 engine and debuted in 1919. This car, #489, with its original engine #500, is one of only 20 surviving original Tipo 8s with LeBaron coachwork. Features a 5.9-liter 8-cylinder inline overhead camshaft engine with 80hp, 3-speed transmission, 145" wheelbase with vacuum servo-assisted Dewandre drum brakes. It has a top speed of 90 mph with an original selling price of $10,000. Some famous owners of Isottas include Rudolf Valentino, Jack Dempsey and King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. This Isotta was owned for 40 years by a family in Michigan. In 2014, Brian Joseph Restorations performed mechanical refreshening, including relining of the clutch and rebuilding the transmission. This Isotta has been fitted with new tires and is ready to continue its use as a tour or show car.
