Lot #1619 - This is one of only 2,072 427/400 Corvettes built in 1969 and is equipped with factory air conditioning and a Muncie 4-speed, which makes it even more rare. The NCRS shipper report shows this car was built November 12, 1968, and was delivered to Harry Mann Chevrolet in Los Angeles, CA. Title history on the car goes back to August 25, 1972, the third owner, George Clemans. He stated that the car was purchased new by Ray Stark, who formed Seven Arts Productions in 1957 and acquired Jack Warner's interest in Warner Bros. Studios and the two companies were merged into Warner Bros./Seven Arts. Stark is credited with over 30 movies and Broadway plays. The car still has the Warner Bros. access sticker on the back of the rearview mirror. The car was then sold to Stark's secretary, whose brother drove the car to southwest Washington in 1971 and was sold to Clemans. Clemans sold the car to Bob Tindle's Pre-owned Cars (Builder of the famous "Orange Crate" Drag Car). The car passed through several owners, the last of which took it to Corvette Specialties of Oregon, where it received a three-plus-year, frame-off restoration. On July 15, 2006, the car was judged by the NCRS and scored 4,130 points out of 4,510 points and received a Second Flight the first time out. It received a full deduction on paint because it was "too nice." The car has been driven less than 300 miles since its completion in 1996 and has always been stored in a climate-controlled environment. The car is equipped with its original L68 427/400 tri-power engine as documented by the NCRS, Muncie M20 transmission, HD 3.08 posi-traction rear, air conditioning, speed warning, tilt/telescopic wheel, power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, tinted glass, AM/FM radio, T.I. and AIR. Original colors of Riverside Gold with Saddle leather. Documents include NCRS Award, judging sheets, NCRS shipping report, DMV ownership history and letters from past owners and pictures from 1972. This is an outstanding car that has had a no-expense-spared restoration in colors that make it look like a Hollywood movie star.
