Description
Lot #1299 - A huge outlay in time and money was spent to create a Resto-Mod from this inaugural model. The process began with chemically stripping the entire shell and then sculpting and re-leading the body seams, creating a massaged appearance. This was then covered in a sheen of DuPont Black. Inside is red leather interior for the modern age with a Billet Specialties steering wheel, custom-sculpted center console and classic instruments gauges, plus power windows, locks and vent windows. Air conditioning finishes off the comforts. Under the hood is an aluminum 482ci engine with Edelbrock heads, Dynatek electronic fuel-injection using Weber IDA-type throttle bodies, Scat Performance crank and rods, Comp Cams camshaft and CP pistons with custom stainless headers and exhaust. For cruising, there is a 4L80E 4-speed overdrive transmission behind the engine with a Compushift system from Phoenix Transmission. The car now rides on a Moore Brothers chassis and handling has been greatly advanced from 1956 with a Kugel independent rear suspension. An independent front suspension with fabricated A-arms and rack & pinion steering, Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners, a power active emergency brake. Stylish and brutal all at once, this Continental rides on Tru-spoke wire wheels with wide whitewall tires.
