Description
Lot #1044 - This particular Oldsmobile 442 sport coupe is truly a step back in time. It has spent time in a museum and private collection, and there have been very few miles driven since being refinished, cosmetically refreshed and preserved to original as much as possible. It has its original matching-numbers motor, transmission and rear differential, and came from the factory finished in Matador Red with black interior. It is powered by the most powerful power plant available, the very rare optional W30 455ci high-performance V8 with a close-ratio 4-speed transmission and posi-traction rear end. Documentation shows that this beast was special-ordered through Holiday Oldsmobile in Illinois on February 16, 1970, and delivered to its owner in March. Until recently, this car was still titled in the original owner's name, and that original title is also included. Impeccable provenance also includes the original Window Sticker, dealership sales invoice, receipt for payment, special order invoice, owner's manual and two Build Cards, a rotisserie pictorial, breakdown and decoding of the vehicle's major components and numbers, and W30 documentation. Only 262 W30 sport coupes were produced in 1970; less were optioned with the 4-speed transmission. Only a handful of authentic documented real-deal 442s in the world today.
