The 1953 Skylark was part of GM's futuristic 1953 Motorama display, featuring new innovations like Dynaflow automatic transmission, power steering and 322ci OHV Fireball V8 engine - better known as the "Nailhead" - that powered Buicks from 1953 to 1970. At $5,000, the Skylark was as expensive as the average house in 1953. This example received a nut-and-bolt restoration that was completed in 2013. Refinished in the original Reef Blue metallic with matching leather interior, it features a rebuilt 322ci V8 engine and 3-speed automatic transmission, a 12-volt electrical system and the full gamut of power accessories: power steering and brakes, top, windows and front seat. There is even a power antenna for the Selectronic signal-seeking radio.
