Lot #1297 - This very special Corvette spent its early days running up and down drag strips in Las Vegas and Southern California, and it was a regular at the Stardust Racetrack. The car was campaigned during the '60s and '70s by Don's Chassis Shop in Las Vegas. It underwent a massive restoration to restore it back to its glory days. This process took a year, totally disassembling the car and rebuilding every part to concours condition. Noted artists Art Himsl and Jason Rushforth designed the paint scheme. The motor and drivetrain were completely rebuilt, adding Hilborn EFI fuel injection. '60s-style American Mags were added, giving the car that '60s look and diamond-tuck black interior with nostalgia Stewart Warner gauges. This Gasser 'Vette has been featured in Rodders Journal (Issue #27), 'Vette Magazine (10-page article) and Gasser War Magazine (Issue #34). This 'Vette, now called the "Black Widow," has won Best Paint, Best Engineered and First Place at Seattle Roadster Show, Oakland Roadster Show, LA Roadster Show and many Goodguys events around the Northwest and Southwest. The body is a 1957 Corvette, with original fiberglass, side chrome removed. The paint is DuPont acrylic urethane black with flames by House of Color, Candy Sunset, Tangelo and Persimmon. The interior features 1957 Corvette seats, black diamond-pattern Naugahyde, black carpet, Stewart Warner gauges and restored 1957 original steering wheel. The chassis is a 1957 Corvette custom-made front frame section and custom-made rear frame section with a mini tub. Front suspension is CAE tube axle chromed, 1948 Ford spindles, Parallel leaf springs chromed, Monroe shocks, later-model Corvette steering box. The rear suspension is a Chrysler DANA 44, 3:55 gears, Dutchman axles, coilover shocks, custom ladder bars. The front brakes are Wilwood disc. The rear brakes are 1964 Pontiac drums and Corvette dual master cylinder. The drivetrain is a 1966 427 big block, 600hp, 10:1 compression, Edelbrock aluminum rectangular port heads, Crane Power Max cam and lifters, Hilborn EFI fuel injection, Mallory flat top distributer, fender well headers. The transmission is a 1957 Borg Warner 4-speed, Hurst competition plus shifter.
