Description
Lot #532 - No expense was spared when building this mild custom 1952 Chevy Hardtop. The build started with a rust-free example that was built to create a head turning daily driver and a Rod & Custom Cover car. The original front suspension was replaced with an independent front subframe and includes disc brakes and rack& pinion steering. The rear end was replaced with a Ford 9" to handle the power of the rebuilt 327 Chevy engine which includes a fully polished 3x2 carburetor setup from Automotion, and Vintage Air to keep things cool on hot summer nights. To make the highway cruises more comfortable and gas efficient a 700-R4 automatic/overdrive transmission was mated to the 327. The body modifications include 1956 Oldsmobile headlight rings with matching peaks on the fenders, a peaked one piece hood, four additional teeth added to the original grille, a one-piece Oldsmobile windshield and custom flares were added to the fender skirts. To clean up the brightwork the door handles were shaved, the hood and trunk nosed and decked and the bumpers were flipped and smoothed before being rechromed. While the car was being repainted, the interior surfaces were being covered in supple two-tone leather to augment the modern conveniences of the air conditioning with custom fabricated dash vents, Ididit tilt steering column with a cut down 1955 Chevy steering wheel, and a hidden audio system. This is a great driving car.
