Description
Lot #1034 - This spectacular '57 was built as a corner-carving Pro-Touring car featuring a complete frame and chassis by Art Morrison; including front tubular control arms, coilovers with rack & pinion steering and a triangulated 4-bar rear end with posi and coilovers, with 4-wheel disc brakes. It settled into the show circuit with showstopping ease. Dazzling PPG Candy Apple Red paint and stunning two-tone beige leather by legendary designer Paul Adkins. The matching trunk is equally impressive. The potent 350 engine began life as a GM crate short block with 4-bolt mains and forged crank, rods and pistons. It was disassembled, balanced and blueprinted by a master engine builder. It was then topped off with aluminum heads and electronic sequential-port fuel injection plus a Comp roller cam and roller rockers. This is backed by a 4L60E electronically controlled transmission. There is absolutely no rust in this body. After media blasts and body mods, the body was meticulously reassembled by a true craftsman to be straight with even body seams. The subtle body modifications such as recessed door handles allow a flowing view of the body profile. The stance is perfect. This beauty sits on Billet Specialties wheels wrapped with Nitro Z-rated performance tires. The undercarriage includes polished stainless exhaust, mufflers, stainless gas tank and aluminum drive shaft. All bolts and nuts throughout have been replaced with stainless ones. This car features unequalled attention to detail. Accolades include multiple Best in Show awards, Outstanding Custom Car, Outstanding Paint, Outstanding Interior and People's Choice. Most of these were competing against Ridler award winners. It has been featured in several publications.
