Description
Lot #719 - In the late 1990s, Carroll Shelby decided to build a sports car from scratch. In years past, the Shelbys that built his legendary status as an automotive icon were improvements to existing design. These included the Shelby AC Cobra and the Shelby Ford Mustang. Carroll Shelby had never built a performance car from the ground up until he designed the 1999 Shelby Series 1. It was the street car of which he was most proud of and the only car he had in a hand in designing with no constraints. The end result is a beautiful, limited-edition performance Shelby with acceleration and handling that testifies to his legacy as one of the greatest car builders that ever lived. This Shelby Series 1 is car 156 out of 249 built. Purchased by the current owner in 2001 with 149 miles on it, it now has 1,850 carefully driven original miles, making this Shelby one of the lowest-mileage two-owner Series 1 out there. The center console is signed by Carroll Shelby and the car is as original as it gets.
