Description
Lot #604 - "Glamorous Gal" is a total restoration of the old 1951 Studebaker race car known as "Stupidbaker," that ended her racing career in a crash at the Barona Drags on December 31, 2011. She had too much history to end up in a salvage boneyard. With meticulous detail, she has been restored to racing configurations that exceed her best performances of the past. With an all-tube chassis and a Ford 9" rear with 2.89 gears for land speed, this newly designed race and show car handles up to 1,500hp and is NHRA-certified at 200 mph in 7.5 seconds. Complete with 2" chopped top, all-steel body construction, front chin spoiler, rear wing and OJ parachute, her racing days are just a bid away. More than a Southern California icon, she's also a thing of beauty. The specially designed airbrush artwork that adorns her honors the history of two famous U.S. Air Force squadrons that flew P-51 Mustangs in the skies over France and Germany during WWII: the 352nd Fighter Group known as "The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney" and the 332nd Fighter Group, known as "The Red Tails."
