Lot #628 - This custom 1951 Merc Led-Sled features an Art Morrison custom frame, Air Ride Technologies suspension with computerized control unit mounted "in-car" and tank in the trunk, custom 4-link rear suspension with a Ford 9" rear, Strange aluminum 9" differential with 3.88 gears and Strange 31 spline axles. Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes with 18" front and 20" rear Budnik wheels with an 18" matching spare. 327ci small block Chevy V8, Dart iron heads, mild Crane hydraulic roller cam, very rare McGurk 6x2 aluminum intake with six Stromberg 97 carburetors, Moon Eyes progressive linkage and Moon Eyes screened carburetor stacks. Electronic ignition, 4-speed Tex Super T-10 transmission, custom drive shaft, Hooker headers and lots of chrome wherever possible. Chrome valve covers, Hurst shifter and linkage with a Corvette 4-speed shift knob. The car just finished a 4-year nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration. It is chopped 3.5" with all corners rounded. The hood is louvered with rounded front corners. It has Frenched headlights and a '51 DeSoto grille. Custom front bumper, shaved door handles, electric power windows, remote power doors and trunk with hidden buttons inside and out. Gas filler under a trap door in the trunk. The battery is just in front of the spare tire. The Air Ride pumps are in the front of the trunk behind a snap-off cover. Finished firewall and fender wells. Opening rear side windows. The rear fenders are Frenched with custom taillights. The rear bumper is molded into the rear pan, fenders and body. The custom windshield is molded together. The body is finished in base coat/clear coat black gloss and all the door trunk and engine compartment areas are finished in gloss black. The Art Morrison frame is also finished in a glossy black. The front and rear seats are out of a 2004 Buick, they are power-operated and the right front seat folds forward for entrance to the rear seat. The headliner, door panels, rear window shelf, carpets and trunk finish are custom. Vintage Air with air conditioning vents in the one-off custom dash featuring aftermarket gauges. Chrome tilt steering column with a La Carra steering wheel. This "Sled" has the best of everything. Way too much to list.
