Lot #184.1 - This custom Camaro was professionally built by world-class race car driver and engineer Reese Cox, MTI Racing. This exceptional Camaro is distinguished by being the only year (1996) Camaro designated "Z/28 SS" with limited factory registered serial number, (#547 of 3,254 produced) engraved on a distinctive plate attached to the console. Only the highest-grade, custom-machined and aftermarket parts were installed, with no expense spared. It is equipped with numerous modifications making this a premium car. Highlighted by an ATI Procharger, pushing 9.5psi, this supercharged engine was built with the MTI Stage II cam and head package, assembled exclusively by Reese Cox, employing the newest technology, producing a suspension and high end braking system that dramatically increases total road performance and handling. It is a T-top car with its exterior an OEM Bright Red with a custom painted black stinger stripe, GM Ground Effects Package, stainless steel grille, black rear fascia, special badges, factory T-top and striking 5-spoke chrome wheels. The interior is OEM Red Flame cloth (material only available in 1996 Camaro) on special Recaro LXG racing seats, 5-point safety harness with a custom 6-point welded steel roll bar, full white-faced instrumentation, large tachometer with shift light and short throw Hurst 6-speed shifter. The engine is fully polished and superbly detailed with a custom MTI racing tuned cat black exhaust with polished tips. Built for show, track or cruising, it is emission-legal in fifty states, factory-fresh with 30,501 original miles. It appeared on "My Classic Car" episode 006110, March 11, 2000, has been featured in "Super Chevy" magazine, "Flexing Muscle" June 1999 and the cover of Camaro Performers Magazine August 1999. Awards include 5-time consecutive Super Chevy Winner (at least once in each class), World of Wheels, Popular Hot Rod's Most Streetable Performance Car, GM National Show at Carlisle, PA and the list goes on. The car is autographed by Dennis Gage (My Classic Car), Reese Cox (MTI), Scott Settlemyer, John Heinricy, Jon Moss (Chevrolet) and many more.
