Description
Lot #997 - This one-off 1966 Mercury Comet, with its color matched bumpers and Cyclone hood has been meticulously finished in Dark Gray with blue pearl accents. The car was designed to be powerful, yet street friendly. To reach that goal, a 302cid small block Ford was used. On top of the AFR aluminum heads rests an individual runner Hilborn electronic fuel injection system all fed by a Weldon high pressure fuel pump. The fuel/spark management as well as the coil packs, EGT, crank trigger, MSP sensor and wiring is all by Electromotive Inc. Remaining engine features are a custom ground roller cam, wide cogged water pump belt, custom coated headers, custom exhaust with X pipe and a Ron Davis radiator and fans to keep it all cool. To handle the 450hp, a Tremec TKO 6-speed overdrive transmission with billet flywheel and a dual friction clutch is used. Gear selection is done by a Hurst Hard Drive shifter. The trick suspension upgrades were done by ChassisWorks out of Sacramento, CA. They supplied the front coilover kit, upper/lower control arms, shocks and springs. Calvert Racing supplied the Cal-Trac traction bars. Currie Enterprises brought their 9" Ford into the mix and Wilwood 4-wheel drilled disc brakes makes it all stop. Nitto 245/45 and 285/40 series tires were mounted to Boss 17" wheels with charcoal inserts. The interior was tastefully done in stock appearing form with the exception of racing style seats and engine monitoring gauges. The overdrive transmission keeps highway use at a very friendly level. The potent small block is powerful yet not too radical to enjoy and it stays cool even in the extreme summer heat. Comes with a binder full of build receipts.
