Description
This beautiful 1960 Lincoln continental Mark V convertible was the recipient of a full body-on restoration in 2011. The body was stripped and any bad metal was replaced prior to painting and color sanding. All of the chrome, 24k gold and stainless steel trim has been either replated or polished, while all of the mechanical componentry has either been refreshed or replaced as necessary and the original drivetrain is retained. This Mark V is powered by a 7.0 Liter, 430cid OHV V8 engine breathing through a 2 bbl carburetor with power transferred to the rear wheels via a Borg Warner Lincoln turbo drive 3-speed automatic transmission with a 2:89 final drive. This Lincoln rides on 9.5x14 BF Goodrich white wall tires while 4-wheel drum brakes provide stopping power. The white and black leather two-tone interior was re-dyed to a new appearance, while modern conveniences include power windows, power vent windows, 6-way power seats, electric door locks and a signal-seeking radio. As part of the restoration, the black power softtop was replaced by one from electron tops. The 131" wheelbase, 227.2 " overall length and at 5,176 pounds, made this the largest production convertible ever produced in the U.S., and with only 2,044 Continental Mark V convertibles made in 1960, this is truly rare and unique car.
